Private · Personalized · Unforgettable
Staying at Margaritaville Beach Resort, in a Flamingo hillside villa, or in one of the condos and beach houses of Potrero? You’re at the most convenient launching point on this coast. Guanadreams CR runs private, guided day tours with door-to-door pickup right where you’re staying: no shared shuttles, no strangers in your group, no meeting points. Just your party, a private vehicle, and a local naturalist guide born and raised here.
Flamingo and Potrero sit side by side on the central stretch of the Guanacaste coast, about an hour from Liberia’s airport, with the marina right between them. We pick you up at the door and bring you back to the door.
Flamingo is the sailing capital of this coast, and if the ocean is what you came for, you’re already in the right place — our boats leave from the marina, minutes from your door. But there’s a whole other country behind those hills, and most visitors never turn inland to see it.
An hour and fifteen minutes east, the Tempisque River carries one of Central America’s great concentrations of waterbirds. Two and a half hours north, the rainforest of Tenorio runs turquoise. That’s the trip people remember — and from Flamingo it’s an easy day, not an expedition.
You’re closer to this one than anyone on the coast: our boats sail from Flamingo marina itself. A private charter for your group only — snorkeling in the clear coves, dolphins and turtles, humpback whales in season, and the beaches of Penca, Prieta and Sugar Beach along the way. A private guided ride through the dry-forest backcountry — river crossings, ridgeline viewpoints, and trails most visitors never find, with monkeys and iguanas along the way. See the ATV & buggy tour →
Canopy adrenaline through the old trees of the dry forest, private to your group — great for families and first-timers. See the adventure tour →
The one we’d send a first-time visitor on. A boat safari through one of Central America’s great bird rivers — crocodiles basking on the banks, howler monkeys overhead, herons, storks and roseate spoonbills — with a guide who knows every one by sight and by call. See the Palo Verde experience →
Flamingo is where the Gulf's boats come home, so you're at the doorstep of the water — the shortest run to open sea of any beach we serve. A tender meets you off Flamingo or Potrero and you're fishing or snorkeling within minutes.
Our 42-foot catamaran off your beach: snorkel stops, a sea cave, Monkey Head Rock, WaveRunners, and a guide who reads the mangroves back to you. Standard or Premium, half or full day.
The same catamaran for the last hours of light. Papagayo faces west, so the sun drops straight into the water in front of you — and the dolphins tend to surface right about then.
Four to five hours after roosterfish, mahi-mahi and tuna, on the boat that fits your group. We carry snorkel gear too — the same water usually puts you over turtles.
A private boat to a near-private beach, where we set up on the sand and grill lunch for you. Swimming, snorkeling, and a barbecue with your feet in the water.
Early starts, unforgettable days. We collect you around 6 to 7 AM and have you back by evening.
The turquoise river of Tenorio Volcano National Park and the rainforest around it — where the wildlife gets seriously good. Most spectacular in the green season. See the Tenorio rainforest experience →
Hanging bridges through the canopy, hummingbirds at arm’s length, and an ecosystem unlike anywhere else on your trip. A long day, and worth every hour. See the Monteverde experience →
The iconic cone, lava trails, waterfalls, and natural hot springs to close the day. See the Arenal & La Fortuna experience →
Not sure which month suits you best? Our guides put together a month-by-month guide to Guanacaste's dry and green seasons — what the weather does, and what wildlife you can expect to see. See the best time to visit Guanacaste →
You’ll find plenty of operators running these same tours out of Flamingo. So what makes us different? We’re not drivers with a script. We are naturalist guides, wildlife photographers, and birders, with more than thirty years in the industry, born and raised on this coast. Several of our guides have personally recorded hundreds of Costa Rica’s bird species on eBird — some more than 600. See our birding & photography experience →
And every tour is 100% private to your group. Your vehicle, your guide, your pace.
Flamingo and Potrero sit in the middle of our northern Pacific pickup corridor, which runs from the Papagayo Peninsula down to Hacienda Pinilla. Wherever you’d like to go, we start at your door.
Flying in? Our guide to Liberia Airport (LIR) covers drive times to every beach on this coast, what to expect when you land, and how to get to your door. Read the Liberia Airport guide →
Tell us where you’re staying and what you’d love to see, and we’ll build the perfect private day around it.
