How do we run your Rincón de la Vieja day?
Here's what really happens when we arrive, and it's the part a booking desk can't give you. The park is busy — there are always groups. So the first thing we do is find out which activities are most crowded right then, and we route you around the crowds, starting wherever's clearest. Most days that means we open with the canopy and the hanging bridges while they're quiet, then the waterslide, the cultural tour, and a buffet lunch of real Costa Rican food.
After lunch, it's your call. If you'd like, you take a horse toward the hot springs, with a short hike along the way — about 15 to 20 minutes through Guanacaste's transitional dry forest to a waterfall you can stand and admire (you look, you don't swim there) — and then another twenty-odd minutes to the hot springs and the volcanic mud bath. Not into horses? We hop a tractor from lunch straight to the springs and the mud, or to the trailhead for the waterfall walk — whatever you feel like on the day. We end soaking in the hot springs.
And your things stay safe the whole time: we lock everything in the van and the driver stays with it, and there are lockers too if you'd rather. Towels are provided — just bring insect repellent, and know it can get breezy up there.
